One Class Period for Data Collection
Procedure:
1.
Students
should work in pairs. One data collector & one subject.
2.
Put
card sorter on desk (H should be in the upper left corner)
3.
Subjects
are to sort out the deck of cards into the correct suits as the experimenter
records the time taken. Once through the
deck is considered a trial.
4.
At
the end of 1 trial, each pile is checked for errors (add 5 seconds for each
error)

Note:
the subject can self-correct as he or she sorts
5.
The
deck is shuffled and the sorting process is repeated for a total of four
trials.
6. At the
conclusion of the 4th trial, turn over the card sorter. “D” should
be in the upper left hand corner now.
7.
The SAME subject
completes four more trials with “D” now in upper left corner – SORTING #2
8.
After the 4th trial on the “D side,” flip the card back
over to the original side - “H” in top
left corner and do 4 more trials on this side – SORTING #3
9.
Analyze
data and complete questions.
10.
BOTH subject & data collector can answer
questions in one of the students’ classroom BOTH NAMES must be on the doc for both of you to get credit.
Questions should be answered according to your data collected.
